LBD Spirits Aberdeenshire Foraged Gin – Bennachie Edition

Little Brown Dog are very proud to be working once again to support The Bailies of Bennachie charity.
Our distillery is situated just a couple of miles from Bennachie, the hill that dominates the Aberdeenshire Skyline. The Bailies of Bennachie look after the iconic hill. Their brief is broad and vital, covering access, conservation, education and archaeology on the hill. The charity is looking to raise funds to repair the main walking path up to the summit of Mither Tap.

To help raise some of the funds required, we have produced a one off special edition of our Aberdeenshire Foraged Gin.
Our usual gin takes a year of foraging and growing to produce. Our new Autumn Edition focuses on one season, with all of the foraging occurring during October 2025.
We wanted to create a style of gin for the colder months, with rich fruity notes and gentle warming spice for fireside G&Ts and maybe a wee hipflask nip for a day in the hills!

The key botanicals were all foraged from the area surrounding Bennachie with our self imposed rule that you have to be within visual range of the hill!

After a very dry summer, there was a real autumn bounty so we’ve foraged brambles, rowan berries, rose hips, hazelnuts and chanterelle mushrooms. With sweet red fruit notes from the berries and rose hips, silky texture from the hazelnuts and a stunning apricot profile from those gorgeous chanterelles. We have had a fantastic time foraging for and developing this gin, a real little snapshot of Aberdeenshire at this time of year and a tribute to the part of the world we love so much.

For us Bennachie is the beacon of home, head towards the hill and you’re heading home. It’s that iconic Aberdeenshire view and one of the reasons with you’ll often see the distinctive silhouette of the Mither Tap in many of our photos, labels and videos. The label is the profile of the hill and matches the Bailies own logo.
