LBD Spirits Strathmill 2015
£76.00
Notes from the Bottlers:
Sometimes you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. Strathmill, tucked away at the side of the road in Keith, it might seem pretty anonymous. There do seem to be a lot of rumours about the distillery being largely mothballed locally despite its importance in the J&B recipe.
Anyway, focusing on the distillate, we chose to bottle this cask because it’s just wonderfully rounded. An LBD style of sherry rather than a full on smack about the chops; it’s well integrated, clean and very drinkable.
An American oak, cream sherry hogshead making for a more subtle style of sherry and something we are really into.
The label is a nod to the pied wagtail of the F&F series, whiskies that really brought many whisky drinkers their first tastes of some classic distillates as single malts. We didn’t feel brave enough to use our LBD J&B logo that we mocked up, but maybe if you see us we’ll scribble it on a napkin for you!
