LBD Spirits Dalrymple 2012 (Ailsa Bay)

£66.00

This “teaspooned” Blended Malt was distilled in 2012 at the Ailsa Bay distillery, and fully matured in a 1st fill Oloroso Sherry Butt, before bottling in summer 2023.

“Teaspooning” is the practice of adding a small amount of whisky from a specific distillery (hence the name referring to a teaspoon) to a cask with distillate from another distillery, resulting in blended whisky, which is almost entirely single malt whisky from one distillery.
The act of teaspooning means the cask can no longer be sold as a single malt under the distillery name. Ailsa Bay use the name Dalrymple for their teaspooned whisky.

This is a real sherry bomb of a whisky, non-chill filtered with no added colour, and bottled at cask strength.
Only 700 bottles were produced from a single sherry butt.
